2026 Mazda MX-5 Miata Pricing and What's New

Mazda has released official pricing for the 2026 MX-5 Miata, and enthusiasts will be relieved to hear there's no dramatic increase despite the current tariff environment. Here's what's new for the model year, and why the MX-5 remains one of the last truly affordable manual sports cars on sale.

2026 Pricing: Just $600 More Than Last Year

The 2026 MX-5 Miata starts at $31,665 including the $1,235 destination fee - only $600 more than the outgoing 2025 model. In a period where tariffs have pushed prices up across much of the industry, Mazda's restraint here stands out, and keeps the MX-5 firmly positioned as one of the most accessible sports cars on the market.

What's New for 2026

Changes for the new model year are modest and interior-focused: Club models equipped with the Brembo BBS Recaro package (standard on the RF retractable hardtop version) now get new black Alcantara interior trim, contrast stitching, and additional black accents. The MX-5 continues with its 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder, producing 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, and remains one of the few cars on sale where a six-speed manual is standard equipment on soft-top trims.

How the MX-5 Stacks Up in 2026

Despite the GR86 and BRZ producing more peak horsepower (228 hp), the MX-5's significant weight advantage - at roughly 2,340 lbs, among the lightest cars on sale - gives it a power-to-weight feel that punches above its spec sheet. It's also the most fuel-efficient sports car in its class, rated at 32 mpg combined, working out to roughly $1,500 in annual fuel costs at current baseline prices.

What This Means for Modifying Your MX-5

Because the current ND-generation MX-5 (2022+ refresh) carries over its core body structure for 2026, the growing catalog of carbon fiber exterior parts remains fully compatible with the new model year.

Popular MX-5 Upgrades Right Now

  • Carbon fiber rear bumper diffuser: Smooths outgoing airflow beneath the bumper for a more complete aero package.
  • Carbon fiber side skirts: Extend the rocker panel line for a visual lowering effect.
  • Front bumper vents/canards: Help manage airflow around the front wheel arches at speed.
